National Security Education Program (NSEP)
The National Security Education Program (NSEP) provides funding for U.S. students to study a language abroad in world regions critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the Middle East).

National Security Education Program (NSEP) Undergraduate Scholarships
Deadline: 12:00 p.m., January 17, 2007 (U of M Campus Deadline)
Students submit supplemental materials; two reference forms, official transcripts, one page study abroad program description, and letters of support for direct enrollment (if applicable), to your NSEP campus representative by your on-campus deadline, January 17, 2007.
- The NSEP David L. Boren Scholarships support undergraduate students to learn a foreign language abroad in countries other than other than Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
- The maximum award is $8,000 for a summer program, $10,000 for a semester, or $20,000 for a full academic year.

NSEP David L. Boren Graduate Fellowships
Deadline Jan. 30, 2007 (National deadline)
- NSEP Boren Fellowships support student pursuing the study of languages, cultures, and world regions that are critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the Middle East). Study of the countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand is excluded.

NSEP Flagship Language Program
Deadline Jan. 17, 2007 (National deadline)
- The National Flagship Language Program (NFLP) was developed to address the urgent and growing need for Americans with professional levels of competency in languages critical to national security. NFLP offers advanced language training in Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Persian, and Russian.
