STUDY ABROAD DURING THE MAY INTERSESSION is proving popular: 185 Twin Cities campus students are studying on 10 different programs in 8 countries through Global Seminars, and 200 students from the University and other colleges are studying on 11 U of M "custom programs," opportunities initiated by faculty members with administrative support from the Global Campus. The University of Minnesota continues a strong presence on the national and international level. See a list of presentations by U of M staff and a recap of activities on the Web.
GLENN HENDRICKS: Glenn Hendricks, retired University professor and long-time ISSS staff member, died May 7. He may be remembered on all campuses for his advocacy with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service on behalf of countless international scholars and students. Professor Hendricks brought his training in anthropology, a global perspective, and a genuine care for persons from all nations and walks of life to his work, which earlier included market research of the U's student body and establishment of the Southeast Asian Refugee Studies (SARS) project in the 1970s. A memorial service is pending.
