International Education Week 2005
International Education Week 2005 is Nov. 14-18. Colleges, departments, and student groups have planned almost 50 events systemwide to highlight the University’s support of international education. International Education Week was first declared by the U.S. Departments of State and Education in 2000 as part of their effort to encourage policies and programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the U.S.
Events at the University range from film discussions and music concerts to receptions and workshops. Unique events include a salsa dance at UMD, a celebration in honor of international instructors by the Center for Teaching and Learning Services, and a reception celebrating the international connections and experience of the merging COAFES, CNR faculty, staff, and students.
