Before International Education Week
International Country Fair
The International Country Fair at the University of Minnesota, Morris will include tables decorated and representing countries from around the world. Students and faculty who have studied, lived, or traveled in the country will display artifacts, pictures, and memorabilia from the country.

Housing Studies and Family Social Science MSID Information Session
Grab lunch and listen to Chip Peterson, director of MSID (Minnesota Studies in International Development), talk about study/internship opportunities in Ecuador, Ghana, India, Kenya, and Senegal. (Lunch is available starting at 11:45 a.m.; session begins at noon.)

Seoul National University Development Project 50th Anniversary
From 1954-1962, the U of M--through a contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development--assisted in strengthening and developing the educational and research programs of SNU after the Korean War. Today, SNU is the most prestigious institute of higher education in Korea.

Maximizing Study Abroad
This presentation will present key findings from the three-year Maximizing Study Abroad research project sponsored by a Title VI International Research and Studies Project grant. In this study, we examined student language and culture learning as well as the experiences of language instructors and study abroad professionals who were using the Maximizing Study Abroad guides. We will report findings from each of the three components of the study at this session.

In this Swedish film, Ingemar lives with his brother and his terminally ill mother. He may have a rough time, but not as bad as Laika--the Russian dog sent into space...He gets sent away to stay with relations for the summer. While there, he meets various strange characters, giving him experiences that will affect him for the rest of his life.

The Growing Challenge of Immigration
Former Immigration and Naturalization Service Commissioner Doris Meissner will address “The Growing Challenge of Immigration” at a public forum. Meissner served as INS commissioner at the U.S. Department of Justice from October 1993 to November 2000. Her accomplishments include reforming the nation’s asylum system; creating new strategies to manage U.S. borders in the context of open trade; improving services for immigrants; managing migration and humanitarian crises firmly and compassionately; and strengthening cooperation and joint initiatives with Mexico, Canada, and other countries. Meissner currently is a senior associate with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C.

"Show & Tell" is an American school activity in which a student brings an item to class to talk about with other students. "International Show & Tell" is our version of sharing international experiences.
