Purpose:
The Office of International Programs (OIP) is the University's systemwide international office. It serves as a source of international expertise related to a broad range of University activities, from enrollment and employment of international participants, to curriculum development and overseas activities of Minnesota students and faculty. The OIP director's office provides and develops services and support to departments, faculty, and advanced graduate students, and coordinates and advocates for resource development. Other OIP offices include the China Center, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), the Learning Abroad Center, and the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA).
Functions:
- Fosters research and professional development of faculty and advanced graduate students
- Coordinates university-wide scholar and student exchanges
Services:
- Administers faculty travel grants program for international research and other activities
- Administers several fellowship/scholarship programs for students Coordinates University's license for travel to Cuba
- Assists faculty and graduate students in finding funding for international study/research
- Maintains a database of University international exchanges and linkages
