Purpose:
To promote an exchange of international educational, research, and other scholarly opportunities for medical and graduate students and faculty.
Functions:
- Oversees educational and research exchanges in clinical, basic science, and public health
- Encourages and fosters research and teaching collaborations in clinical, basic science, and public health
- Encourages and fosters research and teaching collaborations in clinical, basic science, and public health
- Develops and conducts symposia on international topics for faculty, staff, students, and professionals in the community
Services:
- Disseminates information on international health programs to faculty and students
- Provides resources pertaining to third- and fourth-year elective experiences in international medicine
- Assists in development of an international medicine curriculum within the Medical School
- Coordinates information about cross-cultural experiences
- Assists with identifying resources related to language skills
- Assists with identifying housing facilities at sites abroad and in Minnesota
- Collaborates with dean's office and faculty to assess and evaluate the quality of sites and the educational value of student experiences at those sites
- Develops affiliation agreements with medical schools abroad
- Provides information to students and faculty about funding opportunities for research and educational exchanges abroad
