Purpose:
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is the office dedicated to serving the University's international community. Its primary mission is to assist international students and scholars in successfully accomplishing the goals that brought them to the University by using all available resources.
Functions:
- Supports the University's international efforts by helping departments bring foreign nationals to our campuses and communities
- Provides intercultural training for students, staff, and faculty and offers programs and events that build links between the U.S. and international communities
Services:
- Provides advising and counseling services for foreign nationals on academic, visa, immigration, legal, career, financial, personal, and family matters, as well as issues of cross-cultural adjustment
- Assists University departments in bringing international faculty, researchers, and staff to campus by preparing nonimmigrant visa documents required by the U.S. government
- Provides orientation programs for visiting international faculty, researchers, and staff
- Provides employment-based visa information sessions for departments hiring international faculty, researchers, and staff (ISSS will notify the University community when new sessions are scheduled or you can call ISSS to discuss your needs)
- Develops and facilitates training and programs that enhance the awareness and understanding of cross-cultural and international issues through its Intercultural Training Center, which provides intercultural education and training programs for classes, student and community groups, and businesses
- Hosts special events, including Small World Coffee Hour and a graduation reception
