Purpose:
The University of Minnesota Alumni Association is a membership organization that creates lifelong connections to alumni, students, and friends of the University; advocates educational excellence; and builds pride, spirit, and community.
Functions:
- Connects alumni to the University by providing opportunities for service and fellowship and through regular communication
- Generates pride in the University and broad-based support for its mission and legislative requests
- Affects University policy and direction by advising and assisting those who govern and manage the institution
- Helps the University recruit students and serves as an advocate for improving the student experience
- Provides services desired by alumni members that are consistent with the UMAA's mission
- Expands the UMAA by recruiting strong volunteer leadership, hiring the highest quality staff, attracting and retaining a broad, dues-paying membership base, and solidifying University support
Services:
- Minnesota, magazine sent to members six times a year
- Society and chapter programs, organizing alumni by collegiate affiliation and geographic area
- Society and chapter programs, organizing alumni by collegiate affiliation and geographic area
- Alumni student mentor programs in 17 colleges and schools
- Legislative network to support the University's legislative requests and other advocacy efforts
- Recognize outstanding faculty and studentssponsors Morse-Alumni and graduate teaching awards, student leadership awards, and numerous scholarships
